Abstrak

Disiplin anak di dalam keluarga telah menjadi salah satu permasalahan sekaligus tantangan yang sangat sulit bagi para orang tua sepanjang zaman. Keberadaan dua rupa disiplin yang ekstrem, yaitu kekerasan dan pengabaian, menjadi fakta yang tidak dapat dihindari dan terus berulang di dalam konteks yang berbeda. Secara khusus, sejak masa Reformasi, usaha untuk mengatasi hal tersebut terus diperjuangkan oleh para teolog yang menginginkan disiplin secara biblikal dan seimbang. Artikel ini berupaya untuk menemukan usaha terbaik dalam menghadapi permasalahan disiplin dengan meneliti kembali karya John Calvin dan William Gouge. Calvin telah memberikan pengajaran yang kemudian dikembangkan oleh Gouge sesuai konteksnya. Melalui studi pustaka dengan pendekatan bersifat historis-biblikal, penelitian ini mengambil sebuah kesimpulan bahwa terdapat kesinambungan dan ketidaksinambungan antara pengajaran Calvin dan Gouge mengenai disiplin anak. Analisis tersebut memiliki signifikansi yang dapat mendorong dan menyemangati keluarga Kristen masa kini ketika mengevaluasi dan melanjutkan kembali usaha menghadirkan disiplin anak yang seimbang di dalam keluarga.

Yuki Fran Siska, Sekolah Tinggi Teologi Reformed Injili Internasional, Indonesia

Yuki Fran Siska meraih gelar Sarjana Teologi (S.Th) dan Magister Teologi (M.Th) dari STTRII pada tahun 2019 dan 2022. Saat ini melayani sebagai salah satu anggota di dalam Unit Penjamin Mutu STTRII dan merupakan hamba Tuhan penuh waktu yang melayani di GRII Pondok Indah. Minat riset penulis adalah bidang pendidikan anak, khususnya berkaitan dengan kerohanian anak dan keluarga.
