Milenialism And Covid-19

Pandemi Covid-19 dalam sekejap mata telah secara radikal mengubah dunia sebagaimana kita kenal dan andalkan sebelumnya. Dalam suasana depresif seperti ini tema kiamat atau akhir zaman biasanya muncul ke permukaan. Tulisan ini membahas opsi-opsi eskatologis dari kepercayaan Kristen dan bagaimana pengharapan itu dapat menjadi sumbangsih bagi masyarakat luas. Pembahasan eskatologi yang diangkat, dibatasi pada tiga opsi sehubun-gan dengan realisasi peme rintahan Tuhan di bumi, yakni pramilenialisme, pascamilenialisme, dan amilenialisme dalam hubungannya dengan krisis zaman, kerinduan-kerinduan mendasar manusia, dan realitas kekuasaan. Tulisan ini berusaha menunjukkan bagaimana eskatologi amilenialisme dapat menolong umat Kristen menyadari tanggung jawab sosialnya di satu sisi, dan di sisi lain menyadari keterbatasan dan kefanaannya, sambil tidak kehilangan pengharapan di dalam keadaan-keadaan sulit seperti pada masa-masa pandemi. Adapun metode penelitian yang dipakai adalah hermeneutika dan dogmatika.
